Responsibilities

A Day in the Life of a Lifeguard:

As a Lincoln Military Housing Lifeguard, you will be responsible for maintaining continuous supervision of patrons at the multifamily residential community pools. Your duties are to proactively identify hazards or potential hazards, take measures to prevent accidents and supervise swimmers to ensure that they are swimming within the safety protocols. Your role will be required to effectively communicate, be attentive to safety protocols to provide assistance in a safe manner and deliver on our mission of providing exemplary service in accordance with Lincoln Military Housings quality customer satisfaction standards.

Your Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Assist patrons with signing in to the pool.
  • Supervise the patrons as they utilize the pool.
  • Be fully aware and attentive at all times while on duty.
  • Control and report unruly behavior of individuals not adhering to behavior pool protocols
  • Immediately provide rescue in the event of drowning or swimming incidents.
  • Ability to perform first aid and CPR according to the demands of adverse situations.
  • Perform pool chemical checks to ensure safety and hygiene.
  • Maintain a clean pool deck, and furniture to ensure safety from any damages.
  • Assist patrons with open swim, swim lessons and pool parties.
  • Check safety of rescue tubes and buoys and perform needed maintenance.
  • Complies with all OSHA safety regulations, local applicable laws regarding health, safety or environment, Fair Housing and LMH Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
Qualifications

What You Need for Success:

  • Must be able to successfully complete American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Administering Emergency Oxygen, Title 22 and CPR for the Professional Rescuer courses.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a 300 yard swim, two minute tread without using arms and a brick retrieval.
  • Maintain satisfactory knowledge on all skills throughout the season.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with co-workers, managers, vendors or residents sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give or receive work direction.
  • Basic computer skills (able to operate mobile device, PC).
  • Must possess a positive and professional demeanour in all interactions, under all circumstances.
  • Knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations.
  • Must have a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Ability to travel to other regional locations for work, training, meetings and other work-related activities.
  • Ability to independently lift/carry supplies or equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, chemicals, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Must be willing to work indoor/outdoor environments, in all weather conditions, and potentially hazardous conditions.
